President Obama To Veto H.R. 4038: American SAFE Act of 2015

Have I mentioned they just don’t get it? President Obama has stated plainly that he will veto any bill restricting Syrian refugees from entering the United States. That is his right as President, but he is wrong on this issue.

The Hill reports “The legislation would prevent any refugees from Syria or Iraq from entering the United States until the FBI, Department of Homeland Security and Director of National Intelligence certify that none of them are dangerous.”

So what is the problem Mr. President? The bill doesn’t say REFUGEES CAN NOT come to the United States, it says that they must be vetted by the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Director of National Intelligence. Why are you against this Mr. President?

Currently, as reported by CNBC in an article title How America’s screening of Syrian refugees works, the current process “usually begins with the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) referring asylum-seekers to the U.S. government. Before anyone working for Washington looks into these refugees, the U.N. agency has conducted a series of background and identity checks, biometric screenings (through iris scans) and selected the most vulnerable individuals to be resettled, according to Brian Hansford, UNHCR’s Washington, D.C., spokesman.”  So the United Nations helps vet the refugees? No thanks. I don’t trust the United Nations. The article offers no further explanation of the process.

I support H.R. 4038: American SAFE Act of 2015, for a full summary of the bill, please click here. I STRONGLY URGE anyone supporting this bill to contact their Congressman and Senators and informing them of your support for the bill. The President vows he will veto the bill, so we need all the support we can get.

The Hill reports “In a 289-137 vote, the House on Thursday” approved the bill. It’s now moving to the Senate, where “Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) vowed to block the House bill if it is considered by the upper chamber after the Thanksgiving recess.”
